Native Lifeforms[edit]
Among the native fauna is the "killer mouse", a symbiotic "scout" for a very large predator known as the grag. The grag spends most of its time sleeping, as its energy requirements are quite extensive. It relies on the smaller animal to "mark" prey with its scent glands; only when marked prey approaches the grag sleeping area will it rouse. The "mouse" feeds on the remnants left behind by the large predator.
History & Background[edit]
Kandom is a high-population Imperial garden world located in Alurza Subsector of Diaspora Sector.
- The world is the subsector capital.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Kandom, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial count.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial subsector duke, who also conducts affairs regarding the entire subsector at the Interstellar and Imperial level.
History-Era: Rebellion[edit]
Kandom is divided by a succession war. This war is being waged between the planetary government and ex-Duke Geraldo who was also one of the major players in the earlier succession wars on Backman. The nations which eventually established the Vassalry Judiciate forced Geraldo and his forces to abandon the Backman system and flee to Kandom, where they continue their fight.
- Although officially an outlaw, Duke Prester Geraldo has many sympathizers among the poor and middle classes of Kandom. He is also receiving support from two companies of grav-belted infantry from the Union of Sufren. Although he and his forces remain in hiding and have trouble getting adequate equipment and supplies, his bid for control of this system, and the subsector, is far from over.
