The Jin of Jinelal (Xaagr 2420) are a technologically competent Minor Race with a semi-humanoid appearance. They owe some of their development to contact with the K'kree and Hivers but are not considered clients of either.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Jin are reptiloid in overall appearance, with scaly, colorful skin, short, heavy tails, large eyes equipped with nicitating membranes, and behavioral habits strongly influenced by temperature. They possess four limbs and adopt a stance and gait similar to that of a Terran gorilla, though they are poor climbers and even less suited to bursts of bipedal movement than gorillas are, due to having more mass in the upper chest.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Located well outside the Two Thousand Worlds in the trailing barrens of Xaagr Sector, the Jin are aware of their larger neighbors, the Two Thousand Worlds and the Hive Federation. Both discovered the Jin in the first centuries following their mutual war, when the Jin were just beginning to develop agriculture and advance from semi-nomadic gatherers. While the K'kree cataloged the Jin as herbivores, evaluated their world for threats, and eventually moved on, the Hivers made more significant contact, exposed the Jin to some of the early concepts of advanced agriculture and civilization building, and returned a handful of times to check on them. Despite not providing high technology, the mere exposure to it triggered advancements the Hivers had not provided directly.

One of the developments aided by both of their visitors was the concept of unified advancement, and the Jin have never had large-scale wars amongst themselves as a result.
