Homith is an icy, low-population world, with a population less than 10,000 sophonts in population size, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Its surface is ice-capped with nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Veesene Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world lies on the Barabek Loop Star Lane.
System Data[edit]
Ormolu-Homith System[edit]
The primary is Ormolu, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0136 Sols, a mass of 0.3626 Sols, and a diameter of 551,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a sparse rocky planetoid belt, (III) Consul, a large gas giant: (IIIc) Homith is its outer moon and is designated the mainworld, (IV) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (V) a small gas giant, (VI) a ringed small ice giant, (VII) a dense atmosphere stormworld, and (VIII) a very thin atmosphere radworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
(III) Consul[edit]
(III) Consul is a large gas giant that orbits Ormolu at a mean distance of 0.72 AU (107.7 million km) and has an orbital period of 1 year 5 days. It has a diameter of 108,000 km and is a banded pale green colour. It retains a family of three major satellites of which the outer, (IIIc) Homith, is designated the mainworld.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(IIIc) Homith[edit]
(IIIc) Homith is the outer of the three major moons of (III) Consul and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 35 diameters (3.78 million km) and has an orbital period of 1 year 261 days: it is tidally locked to Consul. It has an axial tilt of 1 degree. Homith has a diameter of 7,721 km, a density of 4.44 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.49 G. Tidal stresses caused by the gravitational pull of Consul causes occasional geological activity. It retains an atmosphere rated as Trace, with a surface pressure of 0.03 bar and a composition of 94% carbon dioxide (CO2), 3% methane (CH4), 2% nitrogen (N2), and 1% argon (Ar), neon (Ne), water vapor (H2O), hydrogen (H2) and other trace gases. Around 24% of the surface is covered in a crust of water ice. Mean surface temperature: -126°C.
Mainworld geography and topography[edit]
Total surface area: 187 million km², Land surface area: 142 million km², Ice surface area: 45 million km².
Native lifeforms[edit]
No world in the Homith system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Homith has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Homith possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World government[edit]
Homith is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
