Mainworld Data[edit]

The night skies of Homestead are beautiful -- shot through by "shooting stars" from the ring of debris that surrounds the planet.

The small amounts of water available on this world are in balance with the very low population size. Though not a desert world, much of the flora is similar to that found on truly arid planets.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Homestead is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Homestead has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Homestead has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Homestead was formerly part of the Sindalian Empire, and this history continues to echo in the culture's folkways two thousand years later. Peror, the Homesteaders’ deity, is derived from memories of the Emperor of Sindal and a common greeting invokes the "Star Guard".

The government uses education to allocate sophonts to a societal class based on their ability and skill, in theory. In reality, certain protections built into the system often prevent upward mobility based on the level of ability and skill of those at lower levels. Similar mechanisms in relation to the environmental conditions, in addition to the population's extreme xenophobia, minimize the potential for growth.

Trade practices are extremely restrictive, affected by their societal norms. The lack of any codified laws is problematic to any visitors who are unaware of culturally developed rules, similar in some ways to a commonwealth law. The residents of this world are not prone to sharing their ways with outsiders, which results in a marked disadvantage for outsiders.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Homestead has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Homestead has population of 500 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Homestead possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

World Government (G)[edit]

Homestead is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Homestead has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
