Giirakh has an ideal environment for producing agricultural goods and a balanced population between 10 and 100 million. The governance of this world is from Syrna (Dagudashaag 0329). It is a member of Third Imperium in the Zeda Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Giirakh, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdoms of a baron and a minor duke. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. 40% of the world's population is the Minor Race Jala'Lak. During the Long Night this world was named Adziuumla.
Astrography & Planetology[edit]
Giirakh is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Stellar Data[edit]
Local Sophont: Jala'Lak[edit]
This world has a population of Jala'Lak. Clearly they are not native to Giirakh and consequently are the subject of much debate. In addition to Giirakh, the Jala'Lak can also be found on their homeworld of Uaam (Dagudashaag 0940). For as yet inexplicable reasons, their temper here is vastly different than it is on Uaam -- they are much more savage, even cannibalistic.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Giirakh is the major agricultural exporter in Zeda Subsector, feeding the capital itself and many worlds of the Amec Trade Protectorate.
Point of Interest: Local Environmental Laws[edit]
There are very strict environmental laws on this world, mainly to protect the agro-businesses' profits. Skimming for fuel within the oceans or purging of ships' wastes within 25,000 km of the planetary surface will cost offenders MCr2 and a five year prison sentence. Enforcement is through the Office of the Environment and their agents, the Eco-Wardens. The wardens are, in some quarters, more feared than the local Religious Inquisitors.
- The Jala'Lak are a protected species. Visitors are warned that injuring or killing a Jala'Lak carries an automatic death penalty.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Giirakh has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Giirakh has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
Demographics[edit]
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Simple Jala'Lak language.
- This remains similar to the language spoken by Jala'Lak on Uaam.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Giirakh possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Giirakh has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
Governance of this world is from Syrna.
World Law (L)[edit]
Giirakh has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
