Mainworld[edit]

Gabrochat is a populous, industrious, and politically fragmented world located near the bottom right edge of the subsector. It stands apart from surrounding systems by sheer scale of population and economic ambition. Though officially non-aligned, it is quickly becoming a rising force, quietly organizing independent systems into a proto-alliance resistant to external hegemony.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Gabrochat is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Gabrochat has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Gabrochat has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Gabrochat began as a colonization site for a coalition of Terran megacities and climate migration zones. Its continents were initially partitioned among several terraforming corporations and cultural enclaves, leading to a patchwork of city-states, autonomous prefectures, and regional governments. While these internal divisions persist, shared threats from off-world interests and factional encroachment have spurred an emergent sense of global cooperation.

By the time of the First Terran Empire collapse, Gabrochat was already self-sufficient, manufacturing advanced heavy industry products and biotech innovations for export. It weathered the chaos better than most, relying on resilient infrastructure and vast, federated civic networks.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Gabrochat has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Gabrochat has a population of 1,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Gabrochat possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)[edit]

Gabrochat has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law (L)[edit]

Gabrochat has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Culture & Society[edit]

Culturally diverse and economically driven, Gabrochat is a crucible of innovation and civic experimentation. Its governments range from cyber-democracies to matriarchal councils and even city-wide corporate-republics. While unification is elusive, coordination on matters of planetary security, trade protocols, and offworld diplomacy is handled by the Gabrochat Coordinating Assembly (GCA) — a rotating council of high-reputation delegates.

Most citizens live in hyperurban mega-zones with strong education systems, modest social inequality, and access to tech-focused careers. A vibrant creative culture — music, fashion, media — is exported widely across the sector.

Motivation & Future Trajectory[edit]

Gabrochat's primary motivation is _autonomy through coalition_. It is the lynchpin of a brewing independent bloc, hoping to resist absorption by the Divine Hegemony, the Celestial Concord, or the Central Federation. Its leadership is quietly reaching out to Boragora, Aramisa, and other non-aligned worlds to formalize economic treaties and intelligence-sharing networks.

Its greatest internal challenge is political unity; its greatest external threat is Hegemony subversion through religious infiltration and cultural co-option.

Key motivations include:[edit]

External Reputation[edit]

  • Divine Hegemony: A ripe harvest of souls, yet stubborn and corrupt in doctrine.
  • Celestial Concord: Impressive coordination but ideologically chaotic. Potential partner or future threat.
  • Central Federation: Useful trade node, but its lack of order is considered destabilizing.
  • Sovereign Commonwealth: Too distant to matter politically, though its culture finds niche popularity in Gabrochat’s elite salons.

Gabrochat walks a delicate line—proud of its fractured independence, wary of the Hegemony, and determined to shape the future of the Reach on its own terms.
