The Pelosians of 457-973 (Spinward Marches 3019) are a technologically developing Minor Non-Human Race with a non-humanoid appearance.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Pelosians are native to 457-973. After official first contact was made late in the 1100s, it was learned that they call themselves Ebur. As this is still not well known outside of the First Contact Mission on Pelouse until after 1205, "Pelosians" continues to be the primary name the Regency uses.
Prior to published reports late in the 1100s, the Pelosians were not well known to the Imperial (and later, Regency) populace. Rumors persisted that they were a lost minor human tribe with a predilection for vegetarianism, while others believed they might be non-human sophonts of plantoid derivation. Until RISS published notices of First Contact and the Regency officially changed the name of the world to Pelouse the Scouts kept information about these still developing sophonts close.
Details in the public datasphere remain sketchy even in 1205, though the available RISS reports mention that the Ebur are "tripods". Further details are, in 1205, still "pending". [1]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
457–973 (3019): is interdicted by the IISS to protect a local developing race from exploitation; a small human population studies the race from a remote underground installation. [2]
There is a Red Zone at 457–973. Conspiracy theorists keep trying to link it with the research station at Vanejen, but this seems unlikely as the Imperium would place its station at a location actually within the interdicted system if there were something there needing to be studied. [3]
Pelouse (formerly 457-973) (3019): This world has been interdicted by the IISS and RISS to protect a developing race but contact is being undertaken by the RISS, as the achievement of TL–5 is usually considered sufficient to open previously interdicted worlds to outside contact. However, the interdiction is still in effect against commercial contact, as the RISS contact process is not yet complete. the name is a lyrical translation of the race's name for their world, which means "lawn."
