Coroico is a garden world with a near-ideal environment conducive to most forms of life. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This is a temperate world, with a climate of average temperatures. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Zeda Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Amec Trade Protectorate and the Domain of Vland. Coroico, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Uugaran. The Nahuatl name of the world is Caolotl.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Coroico is a binary star system.

  • The primary is an orange main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.

History and background[edit]

Coroico is the latest planet to elect to join the Amec Trade Protectorate. Initially colonized during the Second Imperium, the planet was decimated in 744 when a mutated Ebola Fever virus swept through the population. Quarantined for three years on orders from the Duke, the population of 2.3 million was reduced to 80. After the world was once more declared safe, the survivors elected to stay on and try and rebuild.

Despite several attempts to attract off-world colonists, fewer than 220 ever came. Most off-worlders still fear the neo-ebola fever virus is still just dormant.

By 1115 the world has a population of between 5,000-7,000 people, mostly descended from the original 80 survivors. There is an intense dislike of the subsector government for, as they see it, abandoning the world in their time of need. The world exports include native fruits and salvaged metal and other materials from the original colony.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Coroico has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Coroico has a population of 5,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The planet's Nahuatl name is Caolotl.

Although the current Nahuatl designation is not official, it is included in order to assist travellers who may find it beneficial to use this planetary designation while travelling within the Federation. It is strongly recommended that visitors obtain a good quality translator MemClip prior to entering Federation space. INDISS produce a high quality Galanglic-Nahuatl two-way clip available from all good data libraries, price Cr. 150 rrp.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Coroico possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Coroico is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Coroico has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
