Borite is an agricultural garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to incrementally rise barring outside forces.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Sindal Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
Borite is a yellow-brown planet getting its color from the boron heavy compounds in its surface.
Binary Solar System
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The mainworld has been reduced to pre-spaceflight technology levels because of incessant raiding by the clans from nearby Oghma (Trojan Reach 2020).
- On Borite, it is forbidden to write down anything, lest the Oghman Clans decide you are a scholar and steal you away.
- Oghma raiders make a habit of raiding Borite to keep them from advancing and keep them under their control. By stealing away anyone of intellectual capabilities, they gain from their new members of society and Borite remains incapable of development.
- Anyone of consequence or any movements challenging their status quo will be quickly and smartly addressed, though likely to fall short of the planetary bombardment policy of their roots.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Borite has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Borite has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Borite possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Borite is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
Specifically, this world is ruled by the Borite Continuity Authority, a decaying remnant of the old Drinaxian bureaucracy. The BCA control all trade and travel on and off-world -- not that many people travel here.
World Law (L)[edit]
Borite has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
