System Data[edit]

There is an Imperial Interstellar Scout Service base on Argus' moon. This is not a large installation, though it is actually more capable than Argus' own small starport. The facility is off-limits to non-official vessels and receives relatively little traffic.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Argus is a world that can easily support a large population with its own resources. The population has grown accordingly.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Argus is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Argus has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Argus has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Argus, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

World Starport[edit]

Argus has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Argus has a population of 40,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).

Urbanization[edit]

Most of the population dwell in huge self-contained cities with layers deep underground and high towers rising above. Most cities do not have a 'ground level'. The underground section tends to be built in layered blocks which have areas of bedrock between them for stability or support. This trend is continued above ground, with vast blocky constructions rising tens of even hundreds of metres and linked by tubeways. From the tops of these structures (and sometimes between them) are high, slender towers which house government offices, major business groups and the social elite.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Argus possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Argus is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

World Law (L)[edit]

Argus has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
