Point of Interest: Survey Anomaly[edit]

This world was first explored by the IISS in the early 400s during the First Survey. Lidia Besant's geological team detected enormous mass concentrations deep beneath the moon's surface -- an anomaly made more baffling by the moon's cold, geologically inactive state. The phenomenon defied explanation at the time and was classified as a survey anomaly, hence the world name.

Despite more than 700 years of study, scientists still cannot account for the source or nature of these masses. Speculation ranges from remnants of Ancient technology to deposits of superheavy elements. The Imperial Navy, favoring the latter theory, placed the system under interdiction in 690, a status it maintains to this day. Officially, the Navy denies conducting any secret research in the area, though the world remains an active subject of scientific interest. [2]
