The Asia class Scout is armed scouting starship. While the mission profile of this design is similar to the Imperial Type S, it does not meet the specifications of the Type S.
Description[edit]
Asia class Scouts serve with the navy of the Daprolix Juncture of Suns, a polity lying to rimward of the Solomani Confederation. They are charged with border patrols and scouting and undertake search and rescue missions. The class are also used as light escorts.
- It carries light armament and a defensive suite.
- It has a crew of 7.
Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]
Basic Ship Characteristics [2] | ||
---|---|---|
No. | Category | Remarks |
1. | Tonnage / Hull | The Asia class is constructed using a 300 Ton hull built in a Needle configuration. The hull is fully streamlined and has airfoil surfaces, giving good atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems.
|
2. | Crew | 7 personnel.
Accommodations
Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.
|
3. | Performance | The vessel mounts a Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-4 drive, and a Power Plant-7, giving performance of Jump-2 and 4-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 3 and an emergency agility of 4. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for two consecutive Jump-2s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.
|
4. | Electronics | Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/5 computer: no backup computer is installed.
|
5. | Hardpoints | x3 hardpoints.
|
6. | Armament | The normal weapons fit-out for an Asia class is:
|
7. | Defenses | The hull is unarmored.
|
8. | Craft | The vessel carries no subcraft. |
9. | Fuel Treatment | The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 141 Tons.
|
10. | Cost | The basic cost of the vessel is MCr335.084
|
11. | Construction Time | 56 weeks (13 months) as standard.
|
12. | Comments | Standard cargo capacity amounts to 5.0 Tons. The cargo hold can be sealed and has independent life support and environmental systems. |
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Asia class Scouts serve with the navy of the Daprolix Juncture of Suns. The vessels are domestically produced apart from their Jump Drive units, which are purchased from the Malorn Union. They operate from Scout Bases located on Asia (Malorn 3126 C746445-6) and Darious (Malorn 3125).
