History & Background (Dossier)

The Ishumi were first contacted by the Vilani, but felt no drive to embrace the advances the Vilani offered. Their world would be visited periodically by hopeful Vilani Trader Captains hoping to be the openers of the market the Ishumi represented, but there is no evidence that the Vilani ever succeeded. The world briefly had a Rule of Man scientific settlement in place, coincidentally beyond the usual range of the Ishumi. While the settlers all retreated to more promising worlds as the Rule of Man collapsed, their buildings and instruments remained, and were discovered by the Ishumi during the Long Night. Given generations to come to grips with the odd and mysterious objects, the Ishumi of that region were not as reticent about dealing with the aliens who visited them as the Third Imperium moved into Fornast. While the vast majority of Ishumi remain at home, a few have taken up the offer of the stars.
