Among the Ship Classes of the Royal Caledonian Navy the "Sloop" is the Caledonian term for a light escort ship. It's analogous to a Patrol Frigate, Escort Cruiser or Escort in other navies. This class was originally built to TL11 but was eventually retrofitted and upgraded to TL 12 standards. They are slower than most warships, but more heavily armed than most buccaneer ships. They also feature high endurance; they are designed to remain on station in a zone for eight or more weeks, patrolling for pirates, Reavers or other bandits. It carries enough fuel for a jump 2 and an additional jump 1 without refueling to extend its time on station or its operational range, as needed. 212 River class sloops are still on front-line service.
Equipped with ten triple turrets: four triple missile turrets grouped into a single battery, a dual fusion gun turret, four triple beam laser turrets, and a triple sand caster turret. The conical hull is thickly armored with a vast cargo bay for supplies which facilitate extended patrols. They can carry two sections of Royal Caledonian Marines with a sniper team. The unit can drop capsule insert and recover with the launch or their G-carrier.
