Pel Avena is an icy, low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Its surface is ice-capped with little or no atmosphere and nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is a member of the Rimward Federation in the Demon's Eye Subsector of Far Home Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
- This world-system has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.

- The supergiant primary star of the Demon's Eye system and the huge Demon's Eye Nebula that surrounds it, lying a few parsecs to coreward, are clearly visible in the sky.

The primary is Bathazar, an orange giant star. It has a luminosity of 380 Sols, a mass of 5.52 Sols, and a diameter of 70.127 million km – the corona of the star extends to 0.23 AU, within orbital position (I). The inner system consists of (IV) a dense stony planetoid belt, (V) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VI-I) a vacuum worldlet, (VI-II) a vacuum worldlet, (VII) a vacuum worldlet, and (VIII) a vacuum worldlet. (IX) Pel Avena, designated the mainworld, orbits within the habitable zone. (XI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld forms the outer system. Only the bigworld retains a satellite.

It has an orbital period of 41 years 93 days and a rotation period of 121 days. The axial tilt is 60 degrees. Pel Avena has a diameter of 823 km, a density of 6.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.059 G. The world is geologically inert. Its atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. Approximately 17% of the surface is covered in sheets of water-ice. Mean surface temperature: -21°C.
