Crater is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Nisor Subsector of Far Home Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world lies on the Outland Run Star Lane.
System Data
Anchar-Crater System
The primary is Anchak, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0268 Sols, a mass of 0.4258 Sols, and a diameter of 658,000 km. (I-I) a dense atmosphere radworld, and (I-II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II) Crater, designated the mainworld, (III) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (IV) a ringed small gas giant, and (V) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Norkal Subsystem
The companion is Norran, a dim red main sequence star that orbits Anchak at a mean distance of 11.3 AU (orbital position (VIII), 1.69 billion km) and has an orbital period of 58 years 78 days. It has a luminosity of 0.004 Sols, a mass of 0.273 Sols, and a diameter of 414,000 km. (I) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (II) a ringed exotic atmosphere bigworld, (III) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (IV) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(II) Crater
(II) Crater is designated the mainworld. It orbits Anchak at a mean distance of 0.36 AU (53.9 million km), within the outer system. It has an orbital period of 120 days 21: it is tidally locked to Anchak. The axial tilt is 2 degrees. Crater has a diameter of 1,032 km, a density of 6.74 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.10 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. It has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -94°C.
Satellite
Crater retains a single natural satellite, a tiny vacuum worldlet named Stott:
- (IIa) Stott (UWP YS00000-0, orbiting at 9 Diameters/9,300 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 3.3 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Anchar-Crater System
No world in the system is known to have native life.
Norkal Subsystem
No world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)

World starport
Crater has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Crater possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World government
Crater has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
