The Ballista class Solar Sailor is used as an escort and are dispatched in small groups to handle patrol and border enforcement duties. They are mobile and visible to dissuade piracy and commerce raiding.
Description (Specifications)
Locally built, these ships are a class of sleek, streamlined needle wedges. They are equipped with fuel scoops for ocean refueling and they have a purification refinery. They can carry two companies of marines. This design relies on its missile arsenal, it has seven triple missile turrets. The model 2 computer handles fire control, target lock and sensor sweeps. They use 700 square km of solar sails and rigging. Near a star they are capable of 0.1 G acceleration and carry enough fuel for two jumps.
