Rabir was originally settled by Vilani farmers and miners around -5500. The original Makhidkarun settlers, paying very little attention to the planet's non-profitable resources, ignored much of the fauna of Rabir. The colonies are situated in the far northern and southern latitudes. The colony is self sufficient at a 8 to 9 level, trading spice, food staples, rice, and ores off world through their two starports. The Vilani society is both welcoming and gregarious to travelers.

Rabir has a thin, tainted atmosphere and a complete lack of surface water, making it poorly suited to sophont habitation. The system has a population of tens of millions of sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Arnakhish Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Rabir, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a marquis. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. During the Long Night this world was named Larshaa.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

This world is part of the Shegimuud Trace.

Stellar Data[edit]

Rabir has a solitary primary star.

System Data[edit]

Early Third Imperium charts sometimes confused this system with Uurku, another nearby world with a history of Vilani colonization and resource exploitation.

Mainworld Data[edit]

History and Background[edit]

Rabir was originally settled by Vilani around -5500.

The Palaeotechnological Department of the University of Mimu has investigated First Imperium sites on Rabir.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Rabir has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Rabir has a population of 40,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Urbanization[edit]

  • Vilani cities are planned under the assumption that most transport traffic will be communal rather than private. Typically, only high-ranking manager or executive-class citizens will own their own ground cars or air/rafts.
  • Vilani buildings are almost always square or rectangular, which means that when combined with a city's radial layout, there are innumerable triangular bits of land left over. This is deliberate; the leftover space is used for parks and other public facilities.
  • One of the few outstanding features of Vilani architecture is its emphasis on ease of communication. Vilani buildings are specially designed with group interaction in mind. Meeting rooms form an integral part of every building.

World Government (G)[edit]

Rabir has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Rabir has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Rabir possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
