Okaya is a preindustrial world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts.

  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a member of the Glimmerdrift Federation in the Kobe Subsector of Crucis Margin Sector.
  • This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

This world is part of the Andritch Main.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

A member of the former Glimmerdrift Trade Consortium, this world is also a member of the successor Glimmerdrift Federation.

The University of Altard is based here.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Okaya has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Okaya has a population of 100,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Demographics[edit]

Okaya has a fair proportion of non-Humans among its populace, including Vargr and Wandering People, who have been integrated in local culture for centuries.

World Government (G)[edit]

Okaya is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will likely have better rules of succession than a single dictator and may last longer, or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Okaya has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Okaya possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
