Riies Cluster

An astrographic feature located in Hinterworlds Sector.

The cluster is located on the main commercial routes linking the Old Expanses Sector with the Hinterworlds. The strategic importance of the namesake Riies system is intensified by the fact that its mainworld is actually the moon of a large gas giant that boasts five other garden worlds.

History and Background

The Riies Cluster is key to controlling almost all of the commercial exchange that the Hinterworlds have with the Solomani Confederation -- which is considerable.

The Beyerly's Path trade route crosses through the Riies Cluster.

The Third Imperium projects power into this region of the Hinterworlds; the IISS maintains scout facilities at the Imperial Client State of Tiffany.

In the early 12th Century Imperial, the Riies Cluster witnessed the rapid expansion of the Nullian League, which Riies itself resisted. The Ral Ranta generally shared the political sentiments of Riies and often petitioned the Third Imperium to politically support the Riies Cluster in the face of the ever-more-rapacious Nullian League.
