A minor human race native to Shakhamash (Gushemege 2716). The Hanen live on the myriad small islands and the floating mats of biomass that dot the planet, and are quite adapted to an aquatic life.
They are broadly physically similar to other types of humans, though most have a thicker skin and more subcutaneous fat than the baseline giving them a slightly chubby appearance, an adaptation related to their ability to retain body heat while in water. Few Hanen are able to grow body or facial hair – those that do are generally far more slender than the average. The Hanen are naturally good swimmers and are "drawn" to water. They have the ability to hold their breaths for long periods while submerged.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
They were able to maintain their undersea habitats during the Long Night, keeping their tech level around TL–8 for the duration. Shakhamash is a manufacturer of kelp, coral, and crystal based products. It has been a major financial center for much of the Third Imperium as well as an industrial center.
