Genesti is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Genesti Subsector of Far Home Sector.

Astrography and Planetology

A backwater world lying on the edge of the Moat Rifts.

Genesti has a solitary primary star.

System data

The primary is Skoric, a yellow-white giant star. It has a luminosity of XXX Sols, a mass of XXX Sols and a diameter of XXX million km.

Skoric's inner system consists of (II) a large exotic atmosphere world – orbital positions (I) and (III) are empty. (IV) Thysh orbits within the habitable zone. The outer system consists of (V) a large exotic atmosphere world. Dugeda has two companion stars. The inner companion is Mossin, a dim dwarf star that orbits at (X) 75.3 AU. It has a luminosity of 0.0004 Sols, a mass of 0.83 Sols and a diameter of 12,500 km. It retains no planetary bodies. The outer companion is Plant, a red subdwarf orbiting at (XIII) 312.9 AU. It has a luminosity of 0.0006 Sols, a mass of 0.058 Sols and a diameter of 74,000 km. It retains (I) a small rocky vacuum world and (III) an exotic atmosphere world – orbital position (II) is empty. All of the exotic atmosphere worlds within the system retain satellites.Gas Giants 0

(VII) Genesti

(VII) Genesti is designated the mainworld. It orbits Skoric at a mean distance of 5.21 AU (779 million km), it has an orbital period of XXX days XX hours and a rotation period of 35 hours. The axial tilt is 10 degrees. Genesti has a diameter of 14,164 km, a density of 5.16 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.22 G. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.09 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen, 22% oxygen, and 1% argon, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. The taint is caused by airborne microorganisms that can cause serious respiratory issues if inhaled. Approximately 99.8% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges are around 2.5m. Mean surface temperature: 31°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and local weather systems, driven by the star and the oceans, work their way across the globe. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.

World starport

Genesti has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Genesti possesses a Technology Level of TL–3.

World government

Genesti is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
