System Data

The system is centered on a yellow main sequence star. It has a small red main sequence companion which orbits at a mean distance of 270 AU. The inner system consists of a large rocky world (II) – orbital positions (I) and (III) are empty. A large exotic atmosphere world (IV) orbits in the habitable zone: Thele is its satellite. The outer system consists of two large rocky exotic atmosphere worlds (V and VI), a large rocky vacuum world (VII) and a final small icy vacuum world (IX). The companion star retains a sparse icy planetoid belt (I) and a small icy vacuum world (II).

Mainworld Data

The systems habitable zone is occupied by the Thele-Sylus binary planet system. The two worlds orbit the primary at a mean distance of 0.95 AU, and in turn orbit a common center of gravity at a mean mean separation of 460,000 km. Orbital period 353 days 5 hours.

(IIIa) Sylus is the major component of the Thele-Sylus binary planet system. It is a large exotic atmosphere world (UWP F9B2413-9).

(IIIb) Thele is the minor component of the Thele-Sylus binary planet system. Diameter 9472 km, density 5.22 g/cm³, surface gravity 0.7 G. Atmosphere rated standard, surface pressure 0.89 bar, composition nitrogen 77% oxygen 22%, argon, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases 1%. Oceans of liquid water cover 72% of the surface. Mean surface temperature 17°C.

Mainworld Geography & Topography

Many small continents, large islands and archipelagos distributed across the world. Most are clustered into continental-sized groupings. Wide and storm-wracked oceans.

Native Lifeforms

Extensive native life.

History & Background / Dossier

World Starport

Thele has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level

Thele possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government

Thele is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

World Military

UWP: B667786-9 TL–9, Port Capacity 80,000 dTons. It has a Military Base with the following troop strength:

Troop Strength: Army: 150 Battalions organized into three Corps, Marines: 15 Battalions in three Marine Regiments

The military use locally manufactured Thele Class Tracked ATVs.

The System Defense Fleet consists of:
