Ka Min is an agricultural, nonindustrial, and very rich garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world. However, a rich world like this one can afford the cost of importation.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to incrementally rise barring outside forces. The world will grow even quicker when its industrial sector begins to develop.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- It is a member of the Firstworlds in the Natar Subsector of Far Home Sector.

System Data
The system is centered on Proclamon, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. Kivulor, Proclamon's red subdwarf far companion, orbits the primary at a mean distance of 2500AU. Proclamon retains a family of two small hot inner worlds and Ka Min (designated as the mainworld and orbitting at 1.01 AU, within Proclamon's habitable zone). A sparse planetoid belt, three gas giants, and a final large rocky world form the outer system. Kivulor, which orbits the primary at a mean distance of 2500AU, retains a family of two small inner worlds, a small gas giant and a dense planetoid belt. All of the gas giants and many of the planets within the system retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
Diameter 11500km Atmosphere Standard Hydrographics 70% Large satellites
Temps average around 18 C.
Mainworld Geography & Topography
"Jungle World" Large equatorial continents small polar icecaps Strong tidal influences huge oceanic tidal ranges
Native Lifeforms
Abundant native life, many types of fauna tend toward gigantism. The Batha Beast, a large grazer native to the world, is found throughout the Distant Fringe. It is a strong and dangerous livestock animal with a reputation for intransigence, but its meat is quite tasty.
History & Background / Dossier
Ka Min (0811 Far Home) is one of the New Members, systems that have provisionally become members of the Firstworlds. The world is divided into enormous family-run ranches raising Batha Beasts, temperamental grazers valued for their meat. Each ranch is effectively a state headed by the family patriarch. Feuds, particularly over border grazing rights, are common.
World Starport
Ka Min has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Technology Level
Ka Min possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World Government
Ka Min has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other. The world is divided into enormous family-run ranches raising Batha Beasts, temperamental grazers valued for their meat. Each ranch is effectively a state headed by the family patriarch. Feuds, particularly over border grazing rights, are common.

The preferred mode of transport for Batha Herders are Horvath's Ponies. Herds of Batha Beasts are corralled by riders who use ultrasonic horns to direct the animals. Batha Herders may spend months in the saddle moving herds between their grazing lands and transport hubs. Herders generally employed by a large commercial ranch and have a reputation for working hard and playing harder.
Urbanization
Ka Min is dominated by 40 vast open ranches, each covering millions of square kilometers and raising huge herds of Batha Beasts. Each is owned by a hereditary Five family who run it according to their own peculiar customs and traditions. Each ranch contains a number of Ranchtowns, busy commercial hubs built around fortified mansion complexes, and typically with many tens of thousands of inhabitants. Ranchtowns are surrounded by smaller outlying Burgs with hundreds or even thousands of inhabitants. Each Ranchtown has slaughterhouses and processing plants and is served by a rail depot. The rail network is used to transport both living Bantha Beasts or processed Beast products to the hungry markets of Drovehead.
Drovehead, with a population of 2.2 million sophonts, is the only major city on Ka Min, lying close to the downport and serving as home to all of the worlds' major financial and commercial institutions. A rail network fans out from Drovehead to terminals near to Ranchtowns. Many ranches choose to drive their herds directly to Drovehead instead.
