Zikarah is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • It is a member of the Krotan Primacy in the Uckemic Subsector of Gzirr!k'l Sector.
  • This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

The "mainworld" is in fact a series of settlements within a segment of the system's asteroid belt. There are no other belts save this one.

Stellar Data[edit]

Zikarah has a solitary primary star.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Lithkind outlaws known as Ileet settled in Zikarah -- which by Lithkind convention regarding belt settlements they call the Zikarah Diadem -- after leaving the Sha Elden Lith Kindriu. They have spread to other systems and complicate diplomatic relations between the Lithkind and the Krotan, especially given Zikarah's proximity to Krota itself.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Zikarah has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Zikarah has a population of 10,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Note that this is the official Krotan population, not counting the Lithkind Ileet communities throughout the system.

  • Krotan world statistics represent all adult and mobile Krotan. The "shoals" on a given world will hold around 100 sessile pre-adult, senescent or post-adult Krotan for every active adult.

World Languages[edit]

  • Jethra: As spoken by the Ileet
  • Krotan language. Krotan communicate through audible shell vibrations. With aliens, the Krotan rely on computerised translators.
    • Krotan is highly efficient, both detailed and terse.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Zikarah possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Zikarah is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
