Description (Specifications)[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

A defunct short-lived polity in Far Frontiers Sector, which arose from worlds of the former Vlazhdumecta Colonization Sphere. Descended from a mix of collapsed Vlazhdumecta societies and colonizing Sky Raiders fleeing upheaval on their people's worldship, these cultures rebuilt the jump drive from Zhodani-designed relics, and quickly used it to form a temporary empire.

Linguistic Heritage[edit]

Zhupek Shirkaa translates as Phoenix Star.

Shirkaa is from the Loes, a corruption of Vilani Sirka ("literally "star" or "stellar body"); Zhupek is a Vlazhdumecta concept of rebirth from devastation, similar to the Terran notion of the mythical Phoenix.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Zhupek Shirkaa arose in -2962, thrived for a few brief years, then gradually collapsed, coming to an end in -2898. It had three leaders during its existence, known as the Zhupek-Kehnai (lose translation, "Phoenix Emperor"): each met a bloody end. The Zhodani were instrumental in the fall of the empire, though they achieved this through subtle manipulations and political machinations rather than outright conflict.

The former Zhupek Shirkaa worlds are proud of their long heritage.

Timeline[edit]

Some of the more important events that affected this polity:

  • -2962: Second Rise of the Vlazhdumecta; the Zhupek Shirkaa rises on D'rarayi, in Dalesabandagh Subsector.
  • -2960: Several Zhupek warships appear in the Berebirenol System; the bloody takeover requires three months.
  • -2959: After conquering Yereng, the Zhupek rule over 9 systems; at this time, they reopen their borders to Zhodani traders.
  • -2957: The Zhodani Consulate attempts to move against the Zhupek Shirkaa; recalling the destruction of the old Vlazhdumecta Colonization Sphere, the Zhupek resist.
  • -2954: The Zhupek Shirkaa passes to the second Zhupek-Kehnai (Emperor) after the first dies violently at the hands of the Zhodani.
  • -2930: The second Zhupek-Kehnai falls to an assassin's dart; the Zhodani move to eliminate the Zhupek completely.
  • -2915: The Zhupek Shirkaa is reduced to D'rarayi after the Zhodani cause great internal strife within the state.
  • -2898: A coup by an underground democratic group on D'rarayi kills the last Zhupek-Kehnai of the Zhupek Shirkaa.
