Within The Claw

Within the Claw is a slang term used by inhabitants of the Gushemege, Verge, and Ilelish sectors to refer to these areas.

Description (Specifications)

The term derives from a supposed resemblance between a claw and the Great Rift, as seen on maps of the Imperium.

The region is surrounded by the Great Rift on its coreward, spinward, and rimward sides. The Rift is a major astrographic feature that severely limits interstellar travel.

• Inhabitants within this region feel a certain pride in the designation. It implies that they share the problems their astrographic position causes, and that they have a mutual camaraderie and common interests.

The area “Within the Claw” is divided between the Domain of Deneb, the Domain of Vland, and the Domain of Ilelish.

• The term is rarely used by inhabitants of other areas of the Imperium.
