Urida is an agricultural, nonindustrial garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to incrementally rise barring outside forces. The world will grow even quicker when its industrial sector begins to develop.
- It is a member of the Protectorate of Leset in the Xelan Subsector of Far Home Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- Urida is a member of the Ritos Cluster.
System Data[edit]
Peralosen-Urcor System[edit]
The primary is Peralosen, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.102 Sols, a mass of 1.02 Sols, and a diameter of 1.399 million km. The inner system consists of (I) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (III) a very thin atmosphere radworld. (IV) Urida orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI-I) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VI-II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VII) a dense icy planetoid belt, and (VIII) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(IV) Urida[edit]
(IV) Urida is designated the mainworld. It orbits Peralosen at a mean distance of 1.05 AU (157.1 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 24 days and a rotation period of 28 hours. The axial tilt is 24 degrees. Urida has a diameter of 11,024 km, a density of 4.68 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.73 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.67 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 52% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 17°C. The atmosphere is active and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the oceans work across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Satellites[edit]
Urida retains two natural satellites, a trace atmosphere worldlet named Acaso and a thin atmosphere hospitable moon named Alto:
- (IVa) Acaso (UWP Y210000-0, orbiting at 35 Diameters/385,000 km)
- (IVb) Alto (UWP H354000-0, orbiting at 40 Diameters/440,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 382 million km², Water surface area: 199 million km², Land surface area: 183 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Peralosen-Urcor System[edit]
Urcor, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has extensive native life, consisting of minute multicellular organisms that can be found in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Urida is a member of the Protectorate of Leset.
- It is sometimes referred to as the "breadbasket of the Protectorate".
World starport[edit]
Urida has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World technology level[edit]
Urida possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World government[edit]
Urida has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
