Ughz is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This world is also the overall capital of an interstellar government with the massive extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
  • It is a member of the Commonality of Kedzudh in the Firgr Subsector of Gvurrdon Sector.
  • This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Ughz has gained greatly in charisma and prestige due to hosting the Commonality's best starport, to the point that it is often considered the de facto capital, regardless of what the law says.

World Starport[edit]

Ughz has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • There is an associated Naval Base.
  • Vargr starports reflect the variety of Vargr architecture, with many disparate styles of building, each having their own unique ornamentation and gaudy colour scheme, and all competing for the attention of the onlooker. Emblems for the major shipping lines and port facilities abound.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ughz is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

  • This world is a member of the Commonality of Kedzudh. Governments within the Commonality retain their autonomy but pay a small amount of tax to help support its police force and small navy.

World Economy[edit]

Since the Commonality has good relations with most neighboring states, including the Third Imperium and the Zhodani Consulate, a number of Vargr merchant combines have arranged to use the polity as a "flag of convenience", paying a small annual fee for the privilege.

Any illegal or stolen goods found by the Commonality's navy are confiscated and used to help finance the fleet. Merchants who want their goods back are permitted to appeal within one week of the goods being impounded.

Rrakhthall Shipyards is based on Ughz.
