The star Theta Aurigae (otherwise known as Mahasim or Bogardus) is a blue-white Alpha2 Canum Venaticorum type variable star of spectral classification A0 orbited by a white/yellowish-white main sequence companion star.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Theta Aurigae has a companion (variously described as either G2 V or F2-5 V) that lies ~185AU from the primary.
- With a mass of 3.5 MSol for Theta Aurigae A and a mass of of 1.0 MSol for Theta Aurigae B, the pair takes ~200 years to orbit each other.
- Both stars seem to be too bright for their respective classes.
- Theta Aurigae A has the luminosity of a somewhat advanced subgiant star.
The Theta Aurigae star system is approximately 50.8pc from Terra, and is located in a Spinrimward/Rimward direction from Terra at bearing 174.3o Galactic Longitude and +06.7o North Galactic Latitude.
