• As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
• This world has few prospects for economic development.
• It is a member of the Senlis Foederate in the Pax Rulin Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.

• This world-system has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.

Mainworld Size (S)

Magen is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Magen has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Magen has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

History & Background (Dossier)

Magen is a poor, non-industrial world claimed as a member of the Senlis Foederate. It features a Foederate military base.

Magen has only recently been conquered by the Foederate and has enough surface water so that the government-supplied drugs used so extensively on Senlis and Orsasch have not significantly affected the population.

• As such, Magen's population is considerably less subservient.
• So far, the rulers on Senlis has been able to keep the Magen in line with the threat of force, but opposition parties continue to support leaving the Foederate and applying for Imperial membership -- or at least for protection from their former allies.

The Baraccai Technum trading cartel has appointed a Factor to the mainworld.

World Starport

Magen has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)

Magen has a population of 900,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

• This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Technology Level

Magen possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

• Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
• Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
• Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
  • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.

World Government

Magen is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

Government code 6 might be more appropriate now, given the relatively recent annexation by Senlis.
