Sharleda is a rich and agricultural production world with a shirt-sleeve atmosphere and a balance of available surface water. The system supports a population in the millions of sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Julian Protectorate in the Cotan Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector and in the Hegemony of Lorean.

History and Background

Sharleda is a rich world known for its agricultural exports. Home to eight million sophonts, the system itself is a shining star in the Cotan Cluster. Despite its Rich trade classification, Sharleda’s lower tech level prevents it from being a true powerhouse in subsector and Hegemony politics. Treated more as a coveted possession by offworld interests than respected as a world in its own right, the local governments of the once balkanized world have recently united in a state of corporate feudalism, where merchant houses and political power go hand-in-hand, and renounced all offworld claims. Needless to say, numerous offworld interests are not happy with the recent change in the status quo. The people of Sharleda openly bear weapons of various and sundry types as trained militia prepared to repel off-world invaders within the limits of their primitive technology.
