RoughandReady is a rich, nonindustrial world.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • It has high-grade living conditions and life on this world is much admired by off-worlders.
  • It is a member of the Swanfei Free Worlds in the Riftin Subsector of Gateway Sector.
  • This world is controlled by Carlton.
  • About 60% of the population is composed of Swanfeh.
  • About 40% of the population is composed of humans and other non-human sophonts.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

RoughandReady is a member of the Swanfei Free Worlds in the Riftin Subsector of Gateway Sector.

For centuries, the "free worlds" were little but a port for pirates and smugglers, but in time, the profits of piracy were used to create legitimate business. Now the Swanfei Free Worlds are a recognised polity, although "rough-and-ready" is certainly still a suitable name.

World Starport[edit]

RoughandReady has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

RoughandReady has a population of 7,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Demographics[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

RoughandReady possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

RoughandReady has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

Governance of this world is from Carlton.
