Rayraleck is a low-population water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water and a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Ikairleah Subsector of Touchstone Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This world falls within the Great Rift.
Stellar Data[edit]
History and Background[edit]
This world has the full name of Rayraleck Norelzapeh Gihmasolem -- 'the place to which we came in search of knowledge' in Te-Zlodh. It is a Darrian colony, established with great difficulty around 1090. It was presumably intended to serve as a staging point for further expeditions, but no more Darrian exploration ships have yet arrived in the area.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Rayraleck has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- A handful of small starships operate out of the port, some Darrian and some independent. Rayraleck's manufacturing base is very small, but as a source of high-technology goods and unusual items of Darrian design, the world is increasingly a factor in the local economy.
World Population (P)[edit]
Rayraleck has a population of 4,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
- The population consists almost entirely of Daryen.
- They arrived here on the seven-ship Rikakihr-Dehnehror Expedition, from the Darrian Confederation.
World Government (G)[edit]
Rayraleck is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Rayraleck has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Rayraleck possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
Various items and parts of much higher tech levels can be found here, a consequence of the recent settlement from the high-tech Darrian Confederation.
