The Octagon Academy is the most prestigious school for tertiary education on Regina.
Pupils are accepted from age 10 as borders or day-pupils.
The Academy has an excellent record of getting pupils into The Six Sisters universities, or into universities on Rhylanor, Mora, Deneb or even Capital.
The Octagon Academy has extensive sporting facilities, including stables, boating lake, athletics arena and swimming pool, and High-G and Zero-G gymnasia.
The Academy has accommodation for up to 1200 pupils, and the Academy Foundation is able to provide a number of scholarships each year.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Founded in 500 in land and buildings purchased from the dissolved Octagon Society by educational theorist Khidamga MacInnes, the initial class contained the children of a Baron and two Knights. This set the tone and the school has continued ever since.
The school was partially rebuilt after the First Frontier War due to damage received during a raid on Regina.
The Marquis of Regina's was persuaded to have his children attend during the 620's, and many and various Noble offspring have been pupils over the years.
Despite the extensive libel damages awarded to the Academy through the courts, theGakumin Scandal of 808 nearly finished the school off, and it was only the public support of the most senior of the parents (Regina) that saw the institution survive this dark period.
During the 980's, the school opened a number of subsidiary campuses on other worlds. This experiment was discontinued in 1023.
Antiquarians should note that tours of the original shelter and school grounds can be arranged, outside term time, by appointment.
