Neme is a nonindustrial, rich, agricultural world with improving living conditions due to a bustling agro-economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- Its economy is bustling and an increase in living conditions is expected in the near future.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a part of the Client States in the Nisor Subsector of Far Home Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
System Data[edit]
Osborn-Neme System[edit]
The primary is Osborn, an ordinary white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 3.042 Sols, a mass of 1.248 Sols, and a diameter of 1.845 million km. The inner system consists of (II) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (IV) a standard atmosphere hospitable water world – orbital position (I) is empty. (V-I) Neme, designated the mainworld, and (V-II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (VI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, (VIII-I) a large gas giant, (VIII-II) a ringed small gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(V-I) Neme[edit]
(V-I) Neme is designated the mainworld. It orbits Osborn at a mean distance of 1.38 AU (206.5 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 165 days and a rotation period of 35 hours. The axial tilt is 155 degrees. Neme has a diameter of 8,377 km, a density of 4.16 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.49 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, with a mean surface pressure of 1.79 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 73% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.35m. Mean surface temperature: 39°C. The atmosphere is active and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans surge across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Satellites[edit]
Neme retains two natural satellites, a cratered trace atmosphere worldlet and a very thin atmosphere hospitable world named Garabas:
- (V-Ia) Velour (UWP Y210000-0, orbiting at 45 Diameters/375,000 km)
- (V-Ib) Garabas (UWP Y322000-0, orbiting at 65 Diameters/545,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 220 million km², Water surface area: 161 million km², Land surface area: 59 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Osborn-Neme System[edit]
The temperate hospitable water world lying in orbital position (IV) (within the H– region of the inner system) has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. Fauna follows a wide variety of body patterns but the prevalent form is Bilateral N-TSB-FN-FF-T, with cartilage interiors, blood fluids and scaly exteriors. Most native organisms are digestible by humans.
Neme, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. Fauna follows a wide variety of body patterns but the prevalent form is Bilateral HSB-T-AN-LN-T, with skeleton interiors, blood fluids and skin exteriors. Most native organisms are digestible by humans: most have an extremely sweet flavour and a gritty, unpleasant texture.
- Garabas, Neme's temperate marginally hospitable outer moon has extensive native life, consisting of minute multicellular organisms that can be found in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Neme is a member of the ANMaN Worlds.
World starport[edit]
Neme has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Neme possesses a Technology Level of TL–1.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay and long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Muscle power and water wheels.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding animals, rickshaws, carts or other creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Rowed galleys and early sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
World government[edit]
Neme has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
