The M150 Colossus class Brigade Transport is a combatant groundcraft.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

M150 Colossus class Brigade Transport, TL-9: The vehicle's tissue paper thin composite laminate armor protects as well as a soap bubble. This design is sealed with life support for all 8,033 passenger and crew in chemical/bacteriological/and nuclear protected forces role. Each vehicle is charged with deploying an entire Brigade with all of its equipment. There is a massive 30cm Mass Driver mounted in the front of the chassis with a pair of MRLs on either flank. This provides some token artillery support for the massive force embarked. It has six massive 9m tall wheels with independent power and steering for each wheel. The suspension is vast at 10,245 m³, and vehicle has a low ground pressure and will never get stuck off road. The vehicle is also completely amphibious! They are too big for maneuvering in crowded city streets. Most bridges can not support their mass, and they are tall enough to ford rivers. The belly carries a fleet of vehicles, and the soldiers have their own air locks to deploy from the sides while vehicles unload from the forward and tailgate ramps.

Basic Vehicle Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Army and IISS Universal Vehicle Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the vehicle when applicable. Tonnage on the universal vehicle profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Designed and manufactured at TL–9, these vehicles were commissioned and license built for the certain military clients on Dhon (world), in the Velous Subsector of the Far Home Sector in the Distant Fringe. The vehicle's tiny crew of three have their hands full to say the least. The mass driver requires a gunner's full attention, the commander and driver will man the rocket launchers, while the vehicle is set up for indirect fire missions. Thirty of the passengers are dedicated command staff. The vehicle requires five dedicated maintenance personnel, four just service the Brigade Headquarter's massive electronics warfare suite. The two MRLs take care of shorter-range missions, while the mass driver is warming up. The designers of this vehicle, which is larger than many starships, apparently never heeded the warning about places all of their eggs in one basket. The vehicle bay can swallow scout ships with ease. The ability to amphibiously land 8,000 troops at one time, even at this price tag might look like and attractive bargain. The organization has varied over time. Currently, the brigade is composed of four regiments, which are each made up of four battalions. This vehicle is never intended for a direct fire battle. It is literally too big to miss. If someone spots it, it is generally dead. That is why is carries so many vehicles and troopers dedicated to its protection. It's on-board kitchen, medical bay and workshop can only support a tiny fraction of the passengers it can carry. The forward chassis weapon mount was selected because the turret would have made a massive vehicle, even larger.
