Krisna is a water world with 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Lamas Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Krisna, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.

Mainworld Size (S)

Krisna is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Krisna has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Krisna has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

History & Background (Dossier)

Krisna was originally settled by followers of an ancient Terran religion known as Brahmanism. This particular group worshiped a particular god known as Vishnu the Preserver, and his eighth incarnation, Krisna the Warrior. In keeping with many of their faith's tenets, the local laws reflect a religious orientation, particularly nonviolence and prohibitions against the eating of certain animals.

The Hindu caste system is not practiced, however, and the world is strongly Imperial in culture. Many of the major cities are built with ancient Vedic themes, and many are dominated by huge temples, statues and reliefs constructed in the ancient Indian tradition. Buddhism is also practiced, though it is a minority religion. Besides Krisna, locals are strongly devoted to the Sea God, Varuna.

The government is actually a coalition of city and local administrations rather than a centralized structure.

World Starport

Krisna has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Urbanization

Most of the population lives in floating or anchored habitats, many of them constructed around large man-made harbors and canals designed to promote sea commerce.
