Native Sophont: Qiceteu[edit]

Remnants of this extinct race's cultures survive on Ilma, and the local Vilani have long worked to preserve them, reverently treating their world as something like a museum.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Ilma, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Ilma has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Ilma has a population of 60,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Urbanization[edit]

  • Vilani cities are planned under the assumption that most transport traffic will be communal rather than private. Typically, only high-ranking manager or executive-class citizens will own their own ground cars or air/rafts.
  • Vilani buildings are almost always square or rectangular, which means that when combined with a city's radial layout, there are innumerable triangular bits of land left over. This is deliberate; the leftover space is used for parks and other public facilities.
  • One of the few outstanding features of Vilani architecture is its emphasis on ease of communication. Vilani buildings are specially designed with group interaction in mind. Meeting rooms form an integral part of every building.
  • This world also features ruins and preserved buildings of the extinct Qiceteu civilization.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ilma is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Ilma has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Ilma possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
