Heby is an agricultural, nonindustrial garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.

  • As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to incrementally rise barring outside forces. The world will grow even quicker when its industrial sector begins to develop.
  • It is a member of the Nakris Confederation in the Nakris Subsector of Beyond Sector.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This world was first settled in -568, by Human refugees from worlds overtaken by Aslan.

Heby joined with Nakris in 530 to form the nascent Nakris Confederation.

By the early ninth century, economic difficulties on Nakris had eroded democratic traditions and put in place the dictatorship of the Permanent Chair and the Grand Council, which in turn took control of the Grand Senate of the Confederation.

Despite significant investment, this world has not developed. Poverty is widespread and the ruling elite lord over town and village-sized settlements and poorly managed agricultural land from their tower fortresses. Large areas of the world's most fertile basin are reserved as hunting preserves.

World Starport[edit]

Heby has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Government[edit]

The rulers of Heby appoint pliant representatives to the Grand Council of the Confederation in return for Nakris not interfering in its internal affairs.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Heby possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
