The Greater Annililik Run is a multi-sector trade compettion.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Every four Vilani years a competition, synonymous with the Annililik Run, is held in which competing teams have to travel as quickly and profitably as they can from Vland to Capital.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Greater Annililik Run is held once every four gurkula (a Vilani 'year', about 478.7 standard days) to commemorate the importance of the Annililik Run to the nascent Third Imperium. The two worlds, Capital and Vland, alternate as start and finish for the race.

Contestants meet each other at starport bars to tell tall tales, gossip, and trade rumours. Sometimes, crews of competing ships try to misdirect their opponents with false tales about low-priced fuel, or useful comets that turn out not to be there.

As the event has become ever more popular, corporate sponsorships have become a big boon to Travellers who make the Run. Corporations tend to sponsor only proven winners, those who have made the Run in the past. The contest garners so much media attention that participating corporations gain a great deal of publicity simply from having their logos adorn the hulls of racing ships. Collusion between contestants is prohibited, but those sponsored by the same corporation can often get away with a few subtle advantages.
