Giinashkhid is an industrial world with a tainted atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. The world lies substantially outside of the habitable zone of the system and environmental temperatures are well below the freezing point of many gases. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Giinashkhid, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Giinashkhid.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Giinashkhid is a member of the Shegimuud Trace.

Mainworld Data[edit]

The arctic temperatures on this world make life hazardous. The surface is covered in sluggish oceans that are kept liquid by their high salinity and the atmospheric pressure. Most of the population live on two equatorial continents and the many archipelagos that surround them.

History and Background[edit]

One of the first worlds to be settled by the Vilani within the sector; it has been constantly inhabited for over nine millennia. It was originally founded as an agricultural colony, but as the population expanded it steadily became industrialized. Today it is self-sufficient in basic foodstuffs although there is a growing market for luxury commodities. Giinashkhid has been described as "being more Vilani than Vland itself, but without the humour and tolerance".

World Starport[edit]

Giinashkhid has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

Vilani is the language of choice when not engaging with offworlders.

Urbanization[edit]

  • Vilani cities are planned under the assumption that most transport traffic will be communal rather than private. Typically, only high-ranking manager or executive-class citizens will own their own ground cars or air/rafts.
  • Vilani buildings are almost always square or rectangular, which means that when combined with a city's radial layout, there are innumerable triangular bits of land left over. This is deliberate; the leftover space is used for parks and other public facilities.
  • One of the few outstanding features of Vilani architecture is its emphasis on ease of communication. Vilani buildings are specially designed with group interaction in mind. Meeting rooms form an integral part of every building.

World Law (L)[edit]

Giinashkhid has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
