Genesis Wonder is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is an Inyx-dominated world in the Htai'asta Subsector of Banners Sector.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Genesis Wonder is part of a cluster of worlds being developed by the Genesis corporation of the Inyx.
- Genesis is heavily involved with genetic engineering, pharmaceutical manufacture, contract labour, and the exploitation of alien biospheres (both for new drugs and new sources of genetic material). Genesis also controls a large fleet of merchant cruisers.
World Starport[edit]
Genesis Wonder has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- There is an associated naval facility.
World Population (P)[edit]
Genesis Wonder has a population of 70,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Demographics[edit]
- 60% of the population are Human, including free employees, indentured servants, and slaves.
- Inyx slaveholding has led to some bad publicity. They are usually careful, however, not to offend alien sensibilities. Part of this policy is ensuring that slaves are not from the dominant species in any given region; thus, in this Aslan-dominated area, Human slaves are favoured (the reverse holds true in Human-dominant subsectors).
- 40% of the population are Inyx.
Urbanization[edit]
Inyx live in cities constructed from genetically engineered coral.
- Inyx construction coral comes in many varieties, including luminescent species that produce or carry electrical currents and which can be used as power conduits. Other species secrete metals, with carefully managed internal impurities so they function as electrical circuit boards.
- Inyx buildings are usually one-story structures that follow a radial or spiral pattern, with important control centers or offices in the center.
World Technology Level[edit]
Genesis Wonder possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government[edit]
Genesis Wonder is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
- The Inyx megacorporation Genesis controls this world.
