History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

During part of the Long Night, this was a subject world of the short-lived Kaiter Hegemony. When Syzlin gained control of a small fleet of starships in a military rebellion, Kaiter forces were driven from the local cluster.

As a member of the Syzlin Republic, this world sends representatives to the central government at Syzlin.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Garissa has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Garissa has a population of 400,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Government (G)[edit]

Garissa is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Military[edit]

The Syzlin Ranger Fleet, based on Ise, defends this and other worlds at the Coreward end of the Home Cluster.

All ground forces, system defense vessels, planetary installations and Jump-capable naval vessels in the Syzlin Republic are under the direct control of the Republican President on Syzlin.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Garissa has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Garissa possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
