Chugoku is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
- A Prison World, exile camp, or prison camp for criminals or other exiles is located upon this world in addition to other points of interest.
- It is a client state of the Third Imperium in the Hebrin Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector.
- This world was a former a penal colony from the days of the Rule of Man, when it known as Exile.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
A population of xenophobic belters voluntarily requested interdiction from the Imperial Navy in exchange for raw materials mined from the system's single planetoid belt.
- Burdened by a long social memory of the atrocities committed against their ancestors, the belters of Chugoku hold no special regard for those outside their own communities, and tolerate trade with the Imperial military as a necessary means to protecting themselves from the brutality of others.
- Unauthorized intruders into the Chugoku system are often met with the destruction of the unauthorized vessel and/or long-term imprisonment, delivered by either Chugoku system defense boats or Imperial interdiction cruisers.
