Nightrim_Subsector/Reavers' Deep Sector
Subsector Notes[edit]
Nightrim Subsector is effectively divided into three parts by the scarcity of star systems through the middle of the subsector, making travel difficult. Kaagin and the worlds of the Kolan Collective make up the spinward cluster of this subsector; Merisun, Khigash, and Khakhan (together with several uninhabited systems between them) make up the rimward cluster; and Ankara, Petzina, and Izaak make up the core-trailing cluster. The uninhabited cluster in the middle of the subsector can actually be utilized to travel from one group to the others by Jump-2, but it is an inconvenient journey with no opportunity for profitable trade along the way.
Reavers: The Kolan Collective from the spinward edge of this subsector has long been accused by other worlds of harboring Reaver bands (some say even subsidizing them and sharing in the loot), but there has never been enough proof to justify a united multi-world military effort against the Collective, and no single world in the area is strong enough to take on the Collective alone.
Colonization: Both Kaagin and Khakhan were colonized by refugees from older Terran colonies during the Interstellar Wars, with continuing immigration throughout the Rule of Man contributing to their current high populations. The colonization of Khagish is something of a mystery, as there is no record of this world being colonized, and the earliest explorers during the Interstellar Wars found it already populated, but archeological evidence does not show civilization having been there long enough to have been planted by the Ancients. The remaining populated worlds of the subsector were colonized during the Rule of Man.
Population: The highest populations in Nightrim Subsector are at Khagish (RD 3019) with 4 Billion people, Khakhan (RD 3220) with 3 Billion, and Kaagin (RD 2516) with 2 Billion. There is one world, Ghost (RD 3115), inhabited by a variant Human species, the Ayansh'l.
The highest Technology Level in the subsector is 10, at Kaagin (RD 2516) and Izaak (RD 3111).
