Beriel is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in size.

  • The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the I'Sred*Ni Heptad Subsector of Beyond Sector.
  • This world-system has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Beriel was colonised in 423 by followers of Beriel Andreesen, a failed claimant to the throne of the Tizon Empire in the Sword Worlds.

Beriel has signed a mutual defense arrangement with the Monarchy of Lod.

The Gateway Consortium, a major commercial power within the Corellan League, maintains its own diplomatic staff and consular office on Beriel.

World Starport[edit]

Beriel has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Beriel has a population of 600,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Demographics[edit]

Almost all residents are Humans of Solomani descent.

World Government (G)[edit]

Beriel is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

World Law (L)[edit]

Beriel has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

While Beriel's protectionist policies have slowed technological progress to a standstill, it has shielded and helped develop local industry. The world enjoys a high standard of living and has experienced only limited unrest among the lower classes.

Trivia[edit]

Rumours have spread claiming that a cell of the infamous Humbolt family is active on Beriel.
