  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Narquel Subsector of Diaspora Sector in the Domain of Sol.

History & Background[edit]

The Humans of Bayse have a society in which a rigid caste structure pervades every aspect of personal and professional life. Over 30 distinct castes exist, with complex laws governing any and all forms of possible interaction between them; the full list of social restrictions and taboos being quite extensive. Central to this caste structure is the notion that everyone in society has a place in the overall scheme, and as such the worst penalty for Bayse locals is to be declared a shorbun, or non-person, one without a place. Unfortunately, having no roots in the society of Bayse, all offworlders are considered shorbun. However, early in the years of initial contact, the Bayseans realized that they could hardly ignore the superior technology of off-worlders. Thus, they requested -- and received -- interdicted travel status as a means of preserving their society.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Despite being a world under Imperial control, this world-system's Red Zone rating has kept any Imperial Nobility from being appointed to it.
