System Data[edit]

Balpan occupies the first orbit of Vesii, with a slightly larger companion, Dirilyshed (G000213-7) occupying the second. Dirilyshed, although economically the far more prominent of the two worlds, is relegated to second status in most regards due to the long presence of a Sylean, then Imperial Naval Base on Balpan.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

As part of a cluster of Jump-1 worlds within four parsecs of Sylea, Balpan (then known as Unkuu) was a longtime member of the Sylean Federation, and became one of the charter worlds of the Third Imperium.

In the early decades of the Third Imperium, the world's biggest claim to fame was a seasonal research lab, which was studying a recently discovered ecology around the planet's icecaps.

The Famelian Research Lab was also located here.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Balpan has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Urbanization[edit]

Around Imperial year 0, the population dwelt in the small settlement of Oossom, located in the southern equatorial region.
