Henry class 10T 8x8 Wheeled AFV (TECH LEVEL 11)

The planet of Nist (world) has designed and built these vehicles to support its infantry battalions. This is a self-propelled artillery system which has been bureaucratically forced to adopt two addition roles. They serve as a Armored Personnel Carrier for 20 passengers and they have a simple anti-aircraft missile system grafted to the large turret on the chassis deck. Two of these vehicles form a platoons of 46 soldiers or marines. Despite the large suspension with its reinforced 8x8 all wheel drive and all wheel steering, the huge vehicle's weight limits off road performance to 20% of road speed. The stock fusion power plant contributes 78% of the vehicle's cost. The vehicle is grossly over powered, an yet the off road performance is merely mediocre. The road speeds are lethal for a vehicle of this size. Only on reinforced straightaways should anything approaching full speed be attempted. They are sealed with full life support proof versus NBC/CBR threats. However, the thin armor, an attempt to save weight, is not rated for Protected Forces duty. They have radically sloped front armor on the chassis. They carry three crew, a driver/mechanic, gunner and commander. Their mass takes a toll on the wheeled suspension which was rated to 103.5tons, and it requires extra maintenance. The vehicle can become stuck in the mud 6+, but they never get stuck in snow, soft earth or sand. They are high profile vehicles with good ground clearance. Their weight takes a toll on roadways and most bridges can't support their mass. They can wade at shallow river fords. Two mechanic/technicians with the appropriate tools and access to a workshop can maintain this vehicle.

Vehicle Dimensions:

  • Height: 3.5m (+1m turret). Width: 4 m. Length: 10 m.

  • A stock 40-megawatt fusion power plant consumes 60 liters of fuel/ hour
  • Fuel capacity 10,451.24 liters, enough for 174 hours or 7.2 days.
  • Power to weight ratio is 251 and ground pressure is 10.6 tons/m2.

Weapons:

25cm RAM Mortar System

There is a radically front sloped 28m3 turret (1m tall, 4m wide, 7m long) on the chassis deck. In this turret is mounted a massive 25cm mortar fitted with TL–11 indirect fire control. It is also equipped with a massive autoloader and therefore only requires a single gunner to operate.

  • The vehicle requires 8.5 turns to set up for indirect fire missions. The vehicle can't move while engaged in indirect fire missions. It must communicate with an allied fire direction center in the higher echelons to conduct fire missions. The vehicle has a ROF 1 and rounds mass 240kg w/RAP. It carries enough ammo for 20 fire missions. It can carry 40 rounds of the 120kg, non-extended range munitions.
  • It has +5 signature when it fires, the rocket assisted shells are accelerated to extend the indirect fire range.
  • According to SOP a full load of HE RAP ammunition is included in the purchase price. Available rounds are listed below. The anti-personnel round is extremely expensive and is only issued on special occasions.
Indirect Fire Characteristics:
25cm RAM Mortar
Range Accuracy
6.125km (9.1875km RAP) (+2)
12.25km (18.375km RAP) (-2)

Light Air Defense TAC Missile System

There are four 8.02665kg capacity launch rails in a missile pod on the back of the turret. This system was an afterthought to add some anti-aircraft weapons to protect the mortar system. There are no internal guidance packages on board. These four missiles are included in the vehicle's purchase price and can easily reloaded by a single crew member if extra missile become available. The missiles use a 8.5cm 0.9kg HE warhead and are fitted with homing guidance for fire and forget (FAF) performance. This system is not intended for use against armored targets.
